Join the ABC’s Friends for a National Day of Action this Friday 1.30 pm

The Queensland Friends of the ABC invite all viewers, listeners and supporters of the ABC to join us for the Brisbane action for our national broadcaster.
In support of the staff and the very institution that was created to educate, entertain and inform Australians about themselves and the world, we will be gathering outside the ABC studios on Grey St at South Bank from 1.30-2.30pm on Friday the 21st.
We are proud to join groups from across the country standing up to the government’s cuts to Auntie’s funding, scope and independence and call on the Prime Minister to stand by his pre-election pledge:

“No Cuts to the ABC”.

Qld Friends at the Bust the Budget Rally – August 31st

ABC Friends Qld rallied as part of the contingent opposing the Abbott Government’s attacks on essential services including the national broadcaster.

Along with the loss of $120 million over the next four years, the axing of the Australia Network and 8o staff with it, the ABC faces a return to blatantly politicised board appointments.  The government has appointed right-wing commentator Janet Albrechtsen and prolific critic of the ABC, Neil Brown to the panel which reviews Board appointments for the ABC.
